Indications
A number of causative factors can contribute to the ptosis of the breasts such as:
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Big changes in weight
Hormonal changes
Normal process of aging (skin loses its elasticity)
Surgical technique
Once the plastic surgeon has evaluated the extent of the ptosis, the quality of the skin and the size of the breasts, and discusses with the patient the desired size and shape of the breasts, as well as the location of the scars, he will decide on the type the intervention that is best suited to the patient's needs and expectations.
For small and fallen breasts: Breast lifting is performed in conjunction with silicone implants to restore fullness of the breasts. The scar will be around the nipple-areaola complex and will be scarcely visible. The plastic surgeon and the patient will decide on the new breast size.
For normal sized fall breasts: the plastic surgeon will only restore the shape and fall of the breasts and remove excess skin. If the ptosis is not so significant, the scars will be around the nipple-areola complex and if the ptosis is greater the scar may have an additional vertical leg.
For large size fall breasts: the plastic surgeon will correct the ptosis of the breasts, reducing their size. The nipple-nipple aerola complex is repositioned in a higher position. Scars usually have the shape of an inverted T (anchor). They start from the nipple-to-halo complex and extend downward in a straight line down to the breast along the underlying fold. The extent of scarring depends on the degree of reduction and ptosis of the breasts.
Type of anesthesia
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia in an organized clinic.
Operatin Time
The duration of the operation depends on the complexity and scale of the operation. It also depends on whether or not silicone inserts will be inserted. In most cases the operation takes about 2-3 hours.
Stay at the clinic
It usually takes 12 hours to stay in the clinic, although in some cases the patients may leave the next morning after consultation with their plastic surgeon Dr. Achilleas Chantes.
Postoperative period
After breast lift, your breasts are covered with gauze and adhesive bandages. The surgery does not cause any particular pain. Bruising and edema gradually recede and disappear completely after 2-3 weeks. Patients should wear a sports bra for 3 months and avoid intense physical activity during the first 3 weeks. Occasionally the sensitivity of your nipples may be reduced, but in the long run the nipple sensitivity is maintained in most cases, and breastfeeding after pregnancy is possible.
Back to daily activities
We recommend that our patients return to their daily and professional activities about 10 days after surgery.
During the first few days they should remain relaxed. Do not hesitate to get help with household chores (even the use of vacuum cleaners should be avoided during the first week). We advise our patients to lift only light objects and avoid lifting heavy objects and limit themselves to light exercise only during the first month. After a breast lift it is more comfortable to sleep in a supine position. If you enjoy sunbathing and even topless, you should apply a sunscreen with a protective index of 50, because the quality of the scars is negatively affected by sun exposure. Finally you can start exercising in 1-2 months.
Results
The effects of breast augmentation are spectacular and immediately visible, although their final image is visible about 6 months after surgery. The scars usually gradually fade and become fine lines, slightly lighter than the color of the rest of the skin, and are scarcely visible. It is really a pleasure to be able to wear any type of bra, revealing swimsuit and clothes with a revealing neckline. Breast lifting is a completely reliable surgery. It increases a woman's self-confidence, boosts her self-confidence and makes her feel more attractive. Although the results are relatively long lasting, women undergoing this procedure should bear in mind that weight, skin quality, weight changes, pregnancy and aging can have a negative impact on maintaining long-term results.
