Indications
Forehaed lifting is one of the most popular aesthetic operations aimed at recovering fallen eyebrows due to agiing. With forehead lifting we can surgically correct eyebrows ptosis. By also removing certain muscles that lie beneath the skin in the frontal area, we also achieve wrinkle elimination. This procedure does not provide any improvement in the bags under the eyes or on the wrinkles of the goose's foot (blepharoplasty, Botox).
Surgical technique
There are two main techniques:
Front Coronary Lifting (Open) In this technique, the surgeon makes an incision which is hidden in the scalp and extends from one ear to the other. Then the excess of the frontal skin as well as certain underlying frontal muscles is removed. The skin of the forehead is raised upwards, resulting in the lifting of the eyebrows. The surgery offers a more youthful and fresh look.
Endoscopic or non-endoscopic frontal lifting with small incisions. In this technique, the plastic surgeon uses the endoscope to look under the skin and eliminate the wrinkles of the forehead. The endoscope is essentially a small camera, which enters under the skin, through very small incisions. The advantage of this method is that the incisions are too small and almost imperceptible and of course can be done without the use of an endoscope. The recovery time is also shorter than the open method.
Type of anesthesia
Forehead lifting is an operation that can be done both under general anesthesia or with a combination of sedation and local anesthesia.
Operation Time
Usually the duration of this surgery is 1-2 hours.
Stay at the clinic
This procedure usually does not require staying in the clinic. The patient may leave within 3-4 hours of surgery.
Postoperative period
During the postoperative period, there may be tenderness and pain in the incision area. Transient edema (swelling) as well as bruising can also occur in the area of the forehead and around the eyes. Rarely in the area of incisions, itching can occur, which can last up to 6 months.
Back to daily activities
Patients can return to their social activities 1-2 weeks after surgery. A small edema (swelling) can persist for 1-2 months.
Results
The result of forehead lifting with the lifting of the eyebrows offers a more youthful and relaxed appearance of the upper third of the face. The result is almost permanent but cannot stop the aging process.
